Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) doubles the size of its prior facilities relocating to St John’s Innovation Park
Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD), a fabless company born as a spin-out of Cambridge University, has announced it will double its office space as headcount grows.
The company, which designs, develops, and commercializes energy-efficient GaN-based power devices to make greener electronics possible, has secured Suite 8 at The Jeffreys Building at St John’s Innovation Park.
Owned by St John’s College since 1534, the new facility is considered the most established technology and R&D hub outside of the city centre, providing a campus setting close to both downtown Cambridge and major transport arteries.
The relocation, which more than doubles the size of its prior facilities to 3,950 sq ft, supports CGD’s ongoing expansion and hiring drive and places it in the center of the North Cambridge tech cluster.
CGD demonstrates technological advancement by developing green solutions for everyday electronics, respecting our planet’s natural resources, and building a more sustainable future for future generations. CGD has a mindset focused on pushing the limits of semiconductor (GaN) properties and an outstanding team of global experts leveraging knowledge, IP, and decades of research.
Developing efficient power electronics, CGD is strongly committed to a greener world and a sustainable future. The ICeGaN technology from CGD aims for exceptional efficiency with small-footprint solutions and increased reliability via user-friendly power transistors. The company prioritizes cutting-edge innovation in wide-bandgap (WBG) devices, applying profound science from its Cambridge University heritage and strong involvement with clients, investors, partners, and staff.
Operating in a $30 billion market, CGD finished its $9.5M Series A funding last year and was subsequently recognized the “Tech Scaleup of the Year” in green electronics by Business Weekly and the “Deep Tech Investment of the Year” by the UK Business Angels Association.
